WWE Money In The Bank Random Musings

The general consensus seems to be that WWE hit a home run on Sunday evening with the Money In The Bank PPV. I’d be inclined to agree and felt this was one of the hottest shows in many a year. Totally proof that WWE can put on shows which appeal to every type of fan, even in a PG setting.

  • CM Punk in general was simply off the hook and the fan reaction all evening, chanting his name at intervals, was amazing. To say WWE did the correct thing by having him take the title is an understatement. It’s actually interesting to this fan just how suckered in people are by agreeing that WWE stinks these days, yet still being glued to the product. The company have done a magnificent job of promoting John Cena as a babyface to kids, yet having him effectively be a top heel to those who WERE kids during the “Attitude Era”.
  • Pretty much every match rocked, with even the Divas match filling its purpose. That’s not a slight on the females of the federation as it happens, simply credit where credit is due.
  • Every match had an issue, something fans could hook into as a reason for caring about the contest. The Money In The Bank ladder bouts were awesome for a 2nd year running and the company are doing an excellent job of creating unpredictability with these things. Long may that continue! Love the concept.
  • Money In The Bank as a Pay-Per-View is quickly becoming one of the hottest on the pro wrestling calendar and there was apparently a buzz amongst talent backstage at the show, with many feeling it had a Wrestlemania-like feel.

Let’s give WWE and Vince McMahon credit where credit really should be given - this event rocked and has even the so-called “smart fans” wondering what will happen next. UFC stinks, pro wrestling rules.
